High Voltage Switching Transformers |
These high frequency, high voltage transformers are designed for many specialized applications such as powering very large neon displays, solid state Tesla coils, plasma displays, ozone generators, Jacob's Ladders, drivers for DC multipliers or many general purpose high voltage applications both AC and DC. Existing primary winding is wound for line drive ½ bridge circuit and includes a 12 volt winding for other circuit functions. The primary winding is easily removed providing the user the option of different input voltages and driver circuits. |

12,000 Volts pk at 35 ma, 20 kHz-30 kHz operating frequency. Balanced output is center point grounded. These can be used for large Jacob’s ladders, neon tube power supplies, plasma arc sources, full wave drivers for voltage multipliers etc. Easily driven with our half bridge 115 vac power supply with the included schematic. Transformer has auxiliary 12 volt output winding, over volt sense coil and split secondary for fault current shutdown safety circuitry. This transformer was designed in our labs for high powered neon displays and is built to the latest UL 2161 specifications. Short circuit current limited by leakage inductance. This transformer is used in our neon power supply used in over 60 thousand neon commercial signs for the trade.

Smaller version of a series of endpoint high-voltage transformers. Secondary is wound with 2500 turns of number 22 wire good for over 50mA. Output voltage can be up to 20kV pk (40kV peak-to-peak) and is completely potted with a hard epoxy shell. The core is a beefy 58 x 29 x 15 mm. Magnetics ferrite type P. A primary winding of Litz wire for a push-pull 12V input is also on the transformer and can be easily removed or changed for your particular application. This transformer is used in our PVM12 and TCL50 high-voltage high-frequency products, as well as our PTG plasma generator.

Our FLYPVM-series transformers used in conventional high-voltage high-frequency power supplies will power such devices as our JACK30 jacob ladder, AUDIOARC speaker, PVM400 plasma display power supply, HVPSD400KV DC HV, and more. They can be used in a resonant mode for tuning out the capacitance in plasma cells and containers as used in our PVM500, and higher power PVM2000 resonant mode drivers.

- Secondary coils are rated at 40,000 V peak to peak and are end point grounded. Coils are potted in a hard epoxy molded shell.
- They are easily disassembled for changing air gaps and winding different primaries. Most applications will require a primary of 30 to 60 turns depending on the drive circuits and frequencies you intend to use.
- When purchased they are ready to use with 2 mil air gaps and come taped together, only requiring the primary winding.
- The standard transformer comes with core size of 2.7 x 3 x 0.625". An optional larger core size is available of 3.25 x 3.25 x .0625" allowing the builder to obtain more power from his circuit.

UNIVERSAL HIGH VOLTAGE TRANSFORMER MAY BE USED IN SEVERAL CIRCUIT CONFIGURATIONS Capable of providing 30kV pk to pk, 15kHz-70kHz operating frequency.
High output intended for CO2 lasers or as a driver for Cockroft Walton voltage multipliers up to 300KV at 2ma. Circuitry may use pre-wound primary of 40 turns and secondary that are on same leg for low leakage application. These leads can be insulated to preserve for different circuit. You may hand wind primary on opposite leg for high leakage reactance for negative resistance loads. Core is a “beefy” 2.7 x 3 x 0.675" U core set. Secondary is wound with 1000 turns of #34 wire. For endpoint grounded circuits. (We can manufacture these, and variations, in large volume for the trade; contact us by email.) An example of a working FLYLABURN circuit schematic is available by purchasing our LABURN20 plans by download.
