This high frequency, high voltage transformer is designed for many specialized applications such as solid state Tesla coils, plasma displays, Jacob's Ladders, drivers for DC multipliers or general purpose high voltage sources. High quality silicon rubber potting is used for the secondary coil. Output is a flexible silicon insulated lead.
40kV pk-pk at 230ma end point grounded and current limited with large ferrite round core measuring 3-¼ x 3-¼ x ⅝" allows adequate clearance for higher voltage windings. 15kHz-60kHz operating frequency. Customer makes their own easy-to-wind primary which is usually 30 to 50 turns of Litz wire, depending on voltage and operating frequency required. 1000 turns of #28 wire on secondary in epoxy molded shell. Allows more clearance for higher operating voltages of the below coil sections shown.
Output current can be increased widening air gap on secondary side only. Uses 1000 turn coils. Voltage output may be higher than turns ratio allows for those who understand the advantage of resonant peaking effects.
Here is an example of a PVM500 schematic.
The FLYPVM includes the secondary coil and ferrite u-cores, but does not include a primary coil as many prefer to wind their own. However we do offer the primary coil if needed, and you can adjust the number of turns to your requirements:
