Rare earth magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet currently made. They are amazingly powerful for their size and have innumerable uses. The permanent magnets system are composed of licensed grade 40 neodymium iron boron magnetic material and are plated in nickel-copper-nickel for a shiny corrosion resistant finish.

Rare Earth Magnet Composition
Rare earth magnets are magnets composed of alloys of the Lanthanide group of elements. The two Lanthanide elements most prevalent in the production of permanent magnets are Neodymium and Samarium. There are numerous alloy formulations of rare earth magnets covered under many different patents but the most common commercial varieties are Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) and Samarium Cobalt (SmCo). Neodymium-Iron-Boron magnets are the most advanced commercialized permanent magnet material available today.

Rare earth magnets are available in sintered and bonded forms. Sintered magnets are a type of ceramic composed of the compressed powder of the alloy material being used. Sintering involves the compaction of fine alloy powder in a die and then fusing the powder into a solid material with heat. While the sintered magnets are solid, their physical properties are more similar to a ceramic and are easily broken and chipped - so handle them carefully, especially near metal or other magnets where they want to snap closed quickly. (Bonded magnets use a polymer base to hold the alloy powder together. The energy product of bonded magnets is much lower than that of the sintered magnets.) Sintered NdFeB magnets are generally plated or coated with a material to prevent corrosion. There are various coatings available. Nickel-Copper-Nickel plating has excellent corrosion resistance and durability as well as providing an clean and shiny appearance. All of our stock rare earth magnets are sintered Neodymium-Iron-Boron magnets plated in Nickel-Copper-Nickel.

Magnet Grades
These magnets are all Grade 40; the grade directly refers to the Maximum Energy Product of the material that composes the magnet. It in no way refers to the physical properties of the magnet. Simplistically, grade is generally used to describe how "strong" a permanent magnet material is. The energy product is specified in the units Gauss Oersted. One MGOe is 1,000,000 Gauss Oersted. A grade forty (N40) would have a Maximum Energy Product of 40 MGOe. The higher the grade the "stronger" the magnet.

MX3511 - MAGNETIC STRENGTH and POLARITY METER

A valuable tool for the researcher or experimenter in magnetism

Magnet

Handy low-cost meter measures from < 1 up to 10 gauss for full scale reading. Allows you to check polarity and obtain relative field strength readings. Checks magnetic pulsers, normal fixed magnets, and potential fields in a magnetically active area.

Device measures 2-¼" diameter at outer lip (2" diameter base) x 1-1/8" deep. Weight is 1.4 ounces. Polarity indicator noted on rear of the unit. Center scale calibrated allows you to quickly determine strength and direction of polarity.

Does not require batteries and is ready to use.

MGD10 - Magnetic Field Distortion, Sunspots & Tremor Detector
Simple electronic circuit developed by our tech staff has multiple application off sun spot activity to earthquake and micro tremors equivalent of tapping your finger on a near by rock. Also detect changing magnetic fields into the difference of less than 10e-6 gauss!!

Detects Mysterious Phenomena Not Of This World.....

Head and Sensor

See the earth's magnetic field distort under the influence of solar activity. Detects moving metallic objects such as UFOs? Predicts earthquakes, power outages, communication black outs and other weird phenomena.

When used with the included biasing magnet, the device is sensitive enough to detect tapping a finger on a nearby rock!

Detect the presence of hover craft and other potential magnetic producing disturbances. This is a powerful R&D tool for studies in these fields and can be an award-winning science project.

Battery operated two part device consists of remote sense head with built in nanoamp preamplifier. Control box contains output jacks for X & Y recorder, signal meter, audible alarm and all programming controls.

Permanent installation where the weather-resistant head may be mounted on a sturdy pole away from anything electrical or large amounts of iron, preferably in a quiet place out of the wind. A shielded cable can now be run to the control box.

Permanent installations are suggested for:
Sunspot monitoring for possible magnetic storms
   "Unidentified flying objects"
Warning of pending earthquakes or explosive events
   Vibration detection, etc.

Temporary installations can be made by placing the head on a sturdy video tripod and placing the control box in any convenient location. This method is preferred in the evaluation of paranormal and "the unexplained" target areas.

Specifications and controls
   Zero set control pot
Meter and overall sensitivity control pot
Alarm threshold and deactivation control pot
   Jack for external XY recorder
Jack for connecting cable from "detecting head" section
Requires 2 AA batteries for head section which last indefinitely, and 8 for control box which last for months (not included)
   Dimensions of Head: 3.5" diameter x 8" long / Control box: 3.7 x 7 x 2.9"
