Hook one side of the clip into the bracket, keeping a firm grip on the cup's rubber lip.

Pinch closed the other side of the clip with a needle nose pliers (a screwdriver, pen, paper clip, or anything thin that provides a little "push" to get the clip into the bracket should also work).

The lead should now be attached securely, with the rubber cup providing some protection.
